DUBAI, December 19: One additional spot at the 2020 Omega Dubai Desert Classic is up for grabs for MENA Tour by Arena members, but they will have to win a ShootOut in Ras Al Khaimah for a chance to play the oldest European Tour event in the Middle East.
The Arena ShootOut will be a two-day, 36-hole stroke-play event held at the magnificent Al Hamra Golf Club in the Northern Emirates from Tuesday, January 14. The Omega Dubai Desert Classic takes place at the Majlis Course, Emirates Golf Club from January 23-26.
The winner of the Arena ShootOut will join South Africa’s MG Keyser and Australia’s Daniel Gaunt (Professional winner and runner-up in the 2019 Journey to Jordan), Dubai-born Josh Hill (Amateur winner of 2019 Journey to Jordan) and England’s Harry Konig (winner of the season-ending Tour Championship and the Final Five Series).
The Omega Dubai Desert Classic is not the only incentive to play for in the Arena ShootOut. The winner will also receive a cheque of $5,000. The runner-up will be richer by $3,000, while the third and fourth-placed players will get $1,500 and $500 respectively.
The leading three players from the ShootOut who have entered from the 2019 MENA Tour exempt player category, will receive complimentary entry into the first three events of the 2020 season.
The leading three players from the ShootOut who have entered from the 2020 MENA Tour Qualifying School registrations, will be exempt from the Q School tournament and receive full cards for the 2020 season.
The tournament is open to all exempt players from the 2019 Journey to Jordan (Order of Merit) who have renewed their membership for 2020 and players who have registered and entered the MENA Tour by Arena 2020 Qualifying School.
