England’s William Harold takes out the top prize at The Els Club Desaru Coast.
William Harold held on during round 3 for a wire-to-wire victory at The MENA Tour’s Malaysian Swing Event 2 at the wonderful Valley Course at The Els Club Desaru Coast.
With a stunning opening round of 64 (-8), he followed it up with scores of 69 (- 3), and 73 (+1) to close out for a total of 10 under par 206 total. He was super excited with the win & to be back playing on The MENA Tour, having not played on the Tour since 2020.
“It’s great to get that winning feeling back,” claimed Harold. “I wasn’t sure I’d get it done, but I just kept my focus on hitting fairways & greens to grind out a score. My swing was getting away from me over the past 2 days, but I managed to hang on. I have been delighted with my performance over the past 2 weeks in Malaysia, and it’s given me a boost of confidence heading into the coming months. My sincere thanks to the team & all the sponsors of The MENA Tour Malaysian Swing as I know that without them, these events do not happen. I look forward to returning to Malaysia again soon as I have definitely enjoyed our time here.”
It was a great week for Malaysian players, with 16 Malaysians making the cut after 2 rounds. Impressive play from Malaysian players Erwin Chang, Paul San & Galven Kendall Green had them finish 2nd , 3rd & 4th respectfully.
More than 100 players from 27 nationalities played in this week’s event. The MENA Tour now moves to Hua Hin in Thailand for a 3rd event in as many weeks. The Royal Hua Hin Thailand Championship by MENA Tour 2023 will take place from April 25th – 27th
